National Trails Day Event at Horatio Colony Nature Preserve: Saturday, June 7


Keene, NH: The Horatio Colony Nature Preserve, located on West Hill in Keene, NH, will be hosting a National Trails Day event from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 7. National Trails Day is an opportunity for people and families young and old to help improve local trails and enjoy their natural surroundings. This trail gathering is open to the public and is sponsored by the Horatio Colony Trust and Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS). Learn about Leave No Trace principles, trail maintenance, and tool safety.

Activities will also include brush clipping and hiking. Refreshments will be provided. Please bring gloves and tools or borrow equipment from us. Participants should dress for variable weather conditions and come equipped with bug protection, boots and water. Please be prepared for vigorous activity in order to enjoy this event! Meet at the Horatio Colony Nature Preserve parking lot off Daniels Hill Road in Keene. This is a “rain or shine” event. The Horatio Colony Nature Preserve is a 614-acre wildlife preserve with several miles of interpretive trails that are open to the public.  The preserve is owned and operated by the Colony Memorial Trust.  The trust contracts with Antioch New England Institute to conduct public programs, environmental studies and maintain hiking trails.


From Peterborough: Take 101West, which becomes NH Route 9.  Go past the Monadnock Marketplace, take a slight left onto Daniels Hill Rd., and park in the designated parking area.

From Keene:  Take NH Route 9 west past the Monadnock Marketplace, make a slight left onto Daniels Hill Rd., and park in the designated parking area.
