The New Hampshire Selectperson Institute
A forum and skills training for hard-working town officials

Selectmen and women are the backbone of local government in New England. Yet historically there has been little support or training available to selectpersons as they face the challenges of their multi-faceted roles.

The Selectperson Institute, offered in four, distinct, day-long, training sessions, has served 70 New Hampshire Towns since 1999. The annual program includes sessions on management and leadership, as well as technical issues faced by board of selectpersons everywhere.

The Selectperson Institute aims to give participants the skills necessary to engage their constituents in developing and implementing policies and programs for their communities.  These skills can help avoid litigation, bridge divisions within a town, enhance volunteerism and improve community life.
