The Horatio Colony Nature Preserve
Hiking Trails, a Historic Cabin and Public Programs

“Awoke this morning in my woodland domain.  I cannot conceive of greater luxury than this quietness and all this green.  Leaves bright and fresh and nothing but the odor of them with the bird voices singing in the old fashioned way.”  -Horatio Colony II

This 614-acre parcel of diverse woodlands and wetlands in Keene, NH is owned by the Horatio Colony Trust and managed by a Project Director and graduate students working for ANEI's Center for Place-based Education.  The Preserve provides the community with an exceptionally beautiful location for place-based learning.  The site features 3.5 miles of hiking trails, a historic cabin and foundations, place-based education initiatives, ongoing research activities, and a public-program series.
